Birdwell Wheelers Club 5

The Birdwell Wheelers Club 5 is a 5-mile cycling time trial held on Tuesday evenings in South Yorkshire. It is organized by the Birdwell Wheelers club and sanctioned by Cycling Time Trials. This club event carries a Come & Try designation, welcoming both regular club cyclists and individuals seeking to test their abilities over a shorter time-trial distance without the commitment of a longer race. The course, designated OC5/7, is a brief, undulating out-and-back route along the A629 Thurgoland to Huddersfield Road. Participants begin their race just southeast of a clearway sign. They proceed northwest to the Hoylandswaine traffic island, complete a circuit around it, and then return southeast on the same road, concluding the trial approximately 20 yards from the starting point. Malcolm Wilson is the listed event organiser.

ランニング： 街を出ずに安定したZ2で走りたい時、地元民はDearne Valley River沿いを走るんだ。Around Dearne Valley RunはBolton upon Dearneがスタート地点で、鉄道と穏やかな川に沿って5km蛇行しながら進むよ。コースは緩やかな起伏があって、Lowfield Lane沿いを戻る前に標高が13mから35mまで上がるんだ。フルループだと144 milesで、登りが324 ft、下りが301 ftだね。Steel City Stridersは週中Sheffield周辺で集まって、木曜の夜はWoodburn Road Stadiumでトラック練をしてるよ。Barnsley 10kは街の中心でのメインイベントで、Higham HurtleとかWentworth Castle Trail Runsでトレイルの脚も鍛えられるんだ。

サイクリング： Barnsley Road Clubはバーンズリーで一番古くて大きいサイクリングクラブだよ。1924年設立で、今でもBarnsley Town Hallからの日曜クラブランが中心になってる。ジュニア向けに土曜の10:00 amからコーチングもしてるんだ。この地域の層の厚さがわかるよね。地元の人たちは、ミックスロードでbase milesを稼いで、ヒルクライムとかきつい登りがしたい時は北に向かうんだ。Barnsley Road Clubはロードレース、ヒルクライム、タイムトライアル、cyclocross、トラックレース、それに週中のgravel ridesもやってるから、活動範囲は狭くないよ。新入りさんにも速い人にも、クラブで5kmのテスターランもやってるんだ。

シーズン： 5月、6月、7月はランナーにとってもサイクリストにとっても最高の時期だね。Silkstone Shuffle Series Race 1が2026-05-07、Silkstone Shuffleが2026-05-21、Wentworth Castle Trail Runsが2026-06-10、Higham Hurtleが2026-06-18、Barnsley 10kが2026-06-28に街の中心を占拠するし、Cawthorne Canterは2026-07-16だよ。Birdwell Wheelers Club 5は、2026-05-12、2026-05-19、2026-06-09、2026-06-23、2026-06-30、2026-07-07と夏の間critの雰囲気を盛り上げてくれる。冬になるとBarnsley Road Clubの日曜クラブランは8:30 amスタートになって、レースカレンダーがまた動き出すまで、地元の人たちはミックスグラウンドで地道に走り込みを続けるんだ。
