San Antonio Marathon
The San Antonio Marathon is a 26.2-mile road race beginning downtown and ending at the historic Alamo. The route, primarily paved, features rolling hills, distinguishing it from a simple flat city run. This annual event attracts competitive runners, recreational participants, and visitors from across Texas and further afield. The course winds past several city landmarks before reaching the Alamo. Aid stations are positioned at regular intervals, and a bag check is provided for runners. Participants who finish are awarded medals. Local charities frequently benefit from the event, and the post-race gathering typically includes live music and food vendors. Volunteers are a significant presence on race day, and many thousands of runners have completed the course throughout the event's history.
