Belfast's running scene centres on the flat, lough-side Belfast Bay Run 10K and the Belfast City Half Marathon, both hugging the waterfront and Lagan Meadows. Inland, the Hillsborough Castle & Gardens Running Festival offers a half marathon course through rolling County Down countryside about 15km south. Cyclists find technical singletrack in the hills immediately south around Cave Hill and Divis, with serious efforts climbing to 400m+ elevation, while longer routes head into the Mourne Mountains (40km south) or loop the flat Strangford Lough shoreline to the east for flatter, scenic miles.
