The Sopocki Bieg Niepodległości 5 km begins and ends at Sopot Pier, the city’s most recognizable landmark on the Baltic coast. This brief Independence Day race commences late in the morning, suitable for runners aiming for a fast 5 km and those seeking a leisurely patriotic run by the sea.
The course leads from the pier through North Park's trails, incorporates a section on the beach, and circles back to the pier with the sea adjacent to the finish. Prior to the start, participants collectively sing the Polish national anthem, and the participants often wear white and red attire. Finishers are awarded a commemorative medal and hot tea, fitting for the November weather and the seaside setting.
