Horton Trail Race
FR OKT 2
The Horton Trail Race is a night run at the Shelby Farms Cross Country Course in Memphis, with a 2K Fun Run and a 5K trail race run under the lights. It is open to the public, uses fully unpaved trails, and keeps the focus on participation rather than prize money. The race honors Frank Horton, who founded the Memphis Marathon, the race that later grew into the St. Jude Marathon. It dates back to 1999 and sits inside a weekend of running events supporting Memphis Youth Athletics, with food trucks adding a casual family-and-friends feel around the racing.
Champion Paws 5K
SA OKT 3
The Champion Paws 5K is a dog-friendly 5K held at Shelby Farms Park, welcoming runners, walkers, and dogs. The course is measured and certified by MRTC and USA Track & Field, ensuring it is a proper 5K distance. The race benefits Team Memphis Rescue & Support, an all-breed rescue group dedicated to finding permanent homes for abandoned, neglected, and lost pets. The organization depends on volunteers, foster homes, and donations; therefore, race entries directly fund their animal rescue efforts. All finishers will receive medals, and custom awards will be presented to the overall male and female winners, masters and grandmasters winners, and the top three finishers in each age group.
Mutt Strut 5k Memphis 2026
SA OKT 10
Mutt Strut 5K Memphis is a charity 5K in Overton Park, starting at the Rainbow Lake Pavilion near Overton Bark dog park. The 3.1-mile run supports Dogs 2nd Chance, with in-person and virtual options for those outside Memphis. A ghost runner T-shirt option is available for supporters who wish to contribute without running. Every finisher receives a medal, making the event suitable for casual walkers and runners as well as those competing for age-group places. The course is contained within Overton Park, with parking available around the park and packet pickup before race morning. Dogs are welcome, with specific rules: short leashes only, no retractable leashes, no puppies under 12 weeks, and owners must be prepared to show a current rabies certificate if requested. Water for dogs is provided during and after the run. Awards are given to the top male and female finishers, masters, grand masters, senior grand masters, and the top three in age groups from young children to 80-plus.

Spooky Sprint - Memphis
SO OKT 18
The Spooky Sprint - Memphis is a Halloween-themed run held at Shelby Farms-Mullins Station Event Field in Cordova, Tennessee. The event offers a variety of race options for families and groups of all abilities, including a Kids Dash, 1 Mile, 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, Virtual Race, and a Volunteer then Run option. As part of Bodies Race Company’s Holiday Series, the focus is on costumes, group enjoyment, and accessible distances rather than a purely competitive racing environment. The in-person races feature chip timing, live results, and awards. The virtual option allows participants to run from any location and still receive event merchandise. All finishers receive themed items like a designer shirt, custom bib, and medal. Treats and complimentary participant photos enhance the Halloween atmosphere. Youth pricing is available for the 5K and 10K, making it more accessible for children aged 12 and under.
Irreverent Warriors Veterans Day 5K/0K
SA NOV 7
The Irreverent Warriors Veterans Day 5K/0K is a Veterans Day run held in Munford, Tennessee, offering both a 5K and a no-distance 0K option. The event begins and ends at 1483 Munford Ave. This race series is in its second year. The format is straightforward: participants can run 5 kilometers, or opt for the 0K to join the gathering without the running component. The Irreverent Warriors title signifies a veteran-centric event, and its Veterans Day timing positions the race within a holiday honoring military service, distinct from a typical local road race.
Sugar Run 5K
SA NOV 7
Mid-South Races for Hope (Mid-South Marathon, Half-Marathon and 5K)
SA NOV 7
The Mid-South Races for Hope begin and end at Wynne Baptist Church in Cross County, offering marathon, half-marathon, and 5K distances during the fall race weekend. Now in its 27th year, the event originated from the race previously known as the Mid-South Marathon. It appeals to runners and walkers seeking a rural road race over a large urban event, and the marathon course is certified as a Boston Marathon qualifier. The races feature out-and-back routes that pass through a section of the historic district before proceeding along Crowley's Ridge and through harvest fields. Aid stations are positioned approximately every mile, equipped with portable toilets and supplies including Vaseline, Gatorade, fruit, and snacks. Participants and their families receive a BBQ plate supper at the finish line, and local restaurants provide pasta specials throughout marathon weekend. The race also reflects a recovery narrative, as the Cross County community continues to rebuild and progress following a tornado.
#NFStrong-Memphis,TN
SO NOV 8
The #NFStrong 5K in Memphis is a morning 5K supporting Neurofibromatosis. Registration and check-in begin at 9:00 AM, with the Facebook Live Kick-Off and the in-person run starting at 10:00 AM. This event is part of the #NFStrong series organized by NF Network. The Memphis event provides a hybrid format, allowing participants to register for either an in-person 5K or a virtual 5K. The race focuses on the NF community rather than competition. Participants fundraise for NF Network support and research initiatives. The broader goal is to unite families, friends, and supporters in the pursuit of better treatments and a cure for NF. This marks the 11th year for the Memphis event, and the virtual option allows participation from any location.
Peer Power Big River Crossing Race
SA NOV 14
The Peer Power Big River Crossing Race is an annual run and walk in Memphis, utilizing the Big River Crossing over the Mississippi River as its central feature. The Memphis-based Peer Power Foundation hosts this event, bringing runners, walkers, and supporters together for a nonprofit race supporting youth education. This is the race's ninth year, and its purpose is to raise support for tutoring, mentoring, college preparation, and paid student-tutor programs. The route sends participants across the Mississippi on a bridge linking communities on either side of the river. Peer Power’s work gives the race its local weight: college students tutor and mentor high schoolers, University of Memphis students are trained and paid through Earn & Learn, ACT Prep participants raise scores by an average of 3.2 points, and Summer Bridge Camp helps students prepare for college. The field includes runners and walkers, so the day is as much about backing Memphis students as it is about finishing a race.
Turkey Trails - Memphis
SO NOV 22
Turkey Trails - Memphis is an annual Thanksgiving-themed race series in Memphis with options for several kinds of runners and walkers. The main distances are 5K, 10K, and half marathon, with an untimed 1 Mile option for people who want a shorter, easier outing. Children 10 and under can join the Kid's Dash, and kids can run that dash for free if they skip the shirt and medal package. The event is built for families and mixed-ability groups rather than just serious racers. The 5K, 10K, and half marathon are chip-timed, with live results and awards, while the 1 Mile and Kid's Dash keep things untimed. Registrants get race swag such as a custom bib, designer shirt, and finisher medal, with youth-sized gear for the Kid's Dash. Finish-line treats and free participant photos are part of the day, and a virtual option lets people run their own route while still earning the event swag.
St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend
SA DEZ 5
On a December race morning in Memphis, runners start at B.B. King Boulevard and Lt. Lee Avenue for a road-race weekend supporting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The offerings include a marathon, half marathon, 10K, 5K, and a 2-Race Challenge, suitable for first-time 5K runners, experienced marathoners, and charity teams. It is the largest single-day fundraiser for St. Jude, with past editions attracting over 22,000 participants and supporters and raising millions of dollars for the hospital. The course follows fast, flat Memphis roads in a roughly counter-clockwise loop through the city. Runners pass Beale Street, the National Civil Rights Museum, the Lorraine Hotel, and the Elvis Presley Memorial, with the half marathon and full marathon sharing much of the early route. Over 4,000 volunteers assist with the weekend each year, and the race’s purpose remains direct: St. Jude families never receive bills for treatment, travel, housing, or food. The event has been held for about 25 years, bringing athletes, volunteers, and supporters from across the country to run for this cause.
