Mohawk Mountain Race is a fall trail race at Mohawk Mountain Ski Resort in Connecticut, offering distances from 5K through marathon. The mountain, typically used for skiing and snowboarding, features routes that climb and descend on steep resort trails rather than rolling through a flat park. Even the 5K route includes 1,332 feet of elevation gain, the 10K doubles that loop for 2,664 feet, and the marathon covers 6,338 feet across two half-marathon loops. The race incorporates Edgar Allan Poe themes, featuring Raven-themed finisher awards. The post-race gathering serves ham and bean soup (with a vegetarian option) prepared in a kettle, alongside opportunities to share trail experiences or recite poetry. It is primarily intended for experienced trail runners, though well-prepared hikers are welcome if they show respect for the environment. Aid stations serve both distances; the half marathon route includes Dry Hollow, Penns View, and Mountain Church, while the 10K utilizes Mountain Church.
Husky Run & Ruck 10K, 5K and Fitness Walk

The Husky Run & Ruck takes place during Veterans Day weekend in Storrs, Connecticut. It features a 10K run, a 5K run, and an untimed 1-mile fitness walk. The event is centered at UConn, with ceremonies before and after the races held outside the Student Recreation Center. All three main events begin on Hillside Road in the morning. The 5K has a distinct start area, separate from the 10K and walk. The 10K route follows the Bonemill loop through the rural Mansfield-Storrs area. All courses include a pass by the Ultimate Sacrifice Memorial on the Great Lawn. Proceeds benefit scholarships for military and veteran students, as well as the Kyle Milliken Fund. This fund honors Navy SEAL Kyle Jeffrey Milliken, a former UConn Track & Field walk-on who died in service. A Blackhawk helicopter landing on the Great Lawn adds a military presence, complementing the standard start line ceremony. A Kids Run concludes under the Hillside Road arch following the primary races.

Εδώ στο Waterbury-Shelton, εμείς οι δρομείς έχουμε ένα πρακτικό μενού: χιλιόμετρα στο δρόμο, μέρες σε μονοπάτια και Κυριακές σε διαδρομές αγώνων. Η διαδρομή καλύπτει 39 km με +270 m υψομετρική. Το κείμενο δεν λέει ποιοι είναι οι καλύτεροι μήνες, οπότε εμείς οι ντόπιοι προσαρμόζουμε την εποχή μας στους συλλόγους, τους αγώνες και όποιο fitness block έχουμε μπροστά μας. Το καλοκαίρι, η προπόνηση είναι απλή: οι δρομείς χρησιμοποιούν τις καθημερινές εκκινήσεις του YMCA, τις Κυριακάτικες εκτός έδρας προπονήσεις και επαναλήψεις σε διαδρομές αγώνων για να ακονίσουν τη φόρμα τους. Οι ποδηλάτες μπορούν να κρατούν Z2 στις ασφάλτινες διαδρομές, και μετά να χρησιμοποιούν τις ανηφόρες προς τα βόρεια για δύναμη, πριν από ένα gran fondo ή μια δύσκολη μέρα με τον σύλλογο. Ο χειμώνας αλλάζει τη νοοτροπία μας περισσότερο απ' τον χάρτη. Οι ίδιοι δρόμοι, τα trail runs και οι διαδρομές με μικτές επιφάνειες παραμένουν οι αναφορές μας, αλλά οι δρομείς και οι ποδηλάτες διαλέγουν τις προπονήσεις με περισσότερη προσοχή όταν το φως της μέρας και οι συνθήκες γίνονται πιο δύσκολες.
