About this race
From the Avenel Tennis Courts, this club handicap is built around Longwood Rd, not a showy event village. The Longwood Rd Out & Back Handicap is plain, practical racing: riders sorted by form, sent off in groups, and left to make the math work on the road.
The course heads northeast on Avenel-Longwood Rd over a fast, flat, out and back course with only 121m of elevation. The turn comes just short of the Hume freeway intersection, then it is a straight return to a finish line set approximately 500m before the start line. New and trial riders are explicitly welcome, but the handicapping note makes it clear that honest grading matters if everyone wants a proper race.
