Brazil's endurance scene is the largest in Latin America by a wide margin, anchored by mass-participation road running. The São Silvestre (15K, every New Year's Eve in São Paulo since 1925) draws 30,000+ runners and a global elite field. Maratona Internacional de São Paulo, Maratona do Rio, the Meia Maratona Internacional do Rio, Maratona de Porto Alegre and the Asics Golden Run and Track&Field Run Series fill out the road calendar. Trail running is growing fast across Serra da Mantiqueira, Chapada Diamantina, the Pelão de Ouro Preto and the Atlantic Forest, and the Brasil Ride stage race in Bahia is the country's signature ultra-endurance event. Cycling is anchored by Ironman Brasil in Florianópolis (one of the largest Ironman races worldwide), L'Étape Brasil by Tour de France, the CIMTB Levorin mountain bike series, and UCI Gran Fondo Brasil on the road. Triathlon thrives via the CBTri calendar plus a dense Ironman 70.3 schedule across Florianópolis, Rio, Brasília, Maceió and Fortaleza. The northeast races year-round in steady heat; the south (Floripa, Porto Alegre) leans on cooler dry winters; the southeast (São Paulo, Rio, Minas Gerais) targets May–September for marathons when humidity drops.
