About this race
The Iron Dragon Triathlon begins at the Kryspinów reservoir in Budzyń, near Krakow, offering athletes a complete swim-bike-run race day instead of a single-distance event. It takes place in September and has been held annually since 2013, featuring Standard, Sprint, and Super Sprint distances. The Standard race follows the Olympic-distance format: 1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling, and a 10 km run. The Sprint reduces these to 0.75 km, 20 km, and 5 km, while the Super Sprint is even shorter at 0.375 km, 10 km, and 2.5 km.
Relay teams are permitted in the Standard and Sprint races, allowing participants to share the three disciplines. The event attracts hundreds of competitors, positioning it among the more significant triathlon gatherings in southern Poland; one Sprint results list indicates 180 participants. The weekend also features run-only events, a children’s and youth aquathlon, and the associated Bieg z Usmiechem, or Run with a Smile. A participant guide is made available by the organizers before race day, with registration managed via Slotmarket.
