Worksop Halloween Half Marathon
SUN OCT 25
The Worksop Halloween Half Marathon is an autumn half marathon organized by Worksop Harriers, set against the backdrop of Worksop’s proximity to Sherwood Forest. It is a long-standing local event, not just a simple road race, and its Halloween theme adds a festive atmosphere, with participants encouraged to wear costumes. The course winds through Sherwood Forest and Clumber Park on a familiar route. A running magazine recognized it as one of the UK’s top 10 half marathons. The blend of club runners, local participants, and costumed runners distinguishes it from a typical autumn half marathon.
Gainsborough Morton 10k & Half Marathon November 2026
SUN NOV 1
Gainsborough 10k & Half Marathon November 2026
SUN NOV 1
The Gainsborough 10k & Half Marathon is a November road-running event based at Sturgate Airfield near Gainsborough in Lincolnshire. The half marathon starts first in the morning, with the 10K setting off shortly after, so runners can choose between a shorter race and a full half marathon on the same day. Both races use road-closed, single-lap routes on flat roads, which makes the event straightforward for first-timers and useful for runners chasing an even pace. The route leaves the airfield for quiet country roads, then passes open farmland and village stretches before coming back to a village finish. Every kilometre is marked with distance flags, and marshals are posted around the course to guide runners and cheer them in. Entry includes chip timing, free race photos, post-race goodies, and a themed medal, so the setup feels practical without being overcomplicated.
Running GP Croft Motor Circuit November 2026
SUN NOV 1
In November, runners at Croft Motor Circuit in North Yorkshire trade cars for laps on a smooth, traffic-free tarmac racing circuit. The event provides 5k, 10k, half marathon, 20-mile, and marathon distances, catering to both short-course runners and those seeking a longer chip-timed result on a flat, controlled course. The route follows the motor racing circuit, with each mile clearly marked and marshals present to guide participants. Croft has hosted motorsport, including the British Touring Car Championship, British Rallycross, and Pickup Truck Racing, since the 1920s, making a chequered-flag finish appropriate for the venue. Entry includes a themed medal, chip-timed results, free race photos, water, and post-race refreshments.

SUN NOV 22
Clowne Half Marathon
SUN NOV 22
The Clowne Half Marathon is a 13.1-mile road race in Clowne, Derbyshire, held in November on an undulating one-lap course. It begins at The Arc Leisure Centre on High Street and concludes at Clowne Community Centre, meaning participants do not finish where they started. Organisers transport bags from the start's secure baggage area to the finish after the race begins. The route departs Clowne centre, winds through nearby villages, and returns to town for the finish. The race employs chip timing, features water and distance markers, and has an entry limit of 900. Participants receive the event's hoody, and £1 from each entry supports the Tiny Tim Trust. Race headquarters are at The Arc, though parking is off-site and changing facilities at the start are limited, with no showers available.
Wild Deer Harewood House Trail Runs
SAT JAN 9
The Wild Deer Harewood House Trail Runs take place at Harewood House, near Leeds in West Yorkshire. Runners begin at 9:45am from the LS17 9LG estate. The event features three trail distances: 5K, 10K, and a half marathon. The 5K is intended for those new to trail running, welcoming participants aged 11 and up. The 10K serves as a progression from parkrun for ages 15 and over, while the half marathon presents a greater challenge for runners aged 17 and over. The routes traverse the Harewood House estate, spanning over 1,000 acres of gardens, woodland, and farmland. This provides an off-road environment close to the main venue. Participants may include novices trying trails for the first time, parkrunners increasing their distance, and experienced runners opting for the half marathon. Results from previous editions are available, indicating an established event history.
Tibthorpe Loop Half Marathon
SAT FEB 20
The Tibthorpe Loop is a half marathon on a small trail in the Yorkshire Wolds, beginning and ending at Field House Camping & Coffee Barn near Tibthorpe, Driffield. Capped at 300 participants, it is a local, understated countryside event rather than a large urban half marathon. The path is rolling but not difficult, with a five-hour time limit allowing ample time for steady runners and walkers to complete it. Participants navigate a marked route using a supplied GPX file, additional course markers, and prominent yellow signs at key intersections. A single checkpoint offers vegan and gluten-free food options, alongside on-course first aid. The start and finish area provides practical amenities: restrooms, complimentary parking, indoor bicycle storage, and reduced-price camping. Those finishing get a wildflower seed medal, chip timing, event pictures, and a downloadable certificate. The organiser plants a tree for the event and contributes a portion of each entry fee to local charities.
Tibthorpe Loop
SAT FEB 20
The Tibthorpe Loop begins and ends at Field House Camping & Coffee Barn, located near Tibthorpe in East Yorkshire. The race commences at 10:00 am. This event is a winter trail half marathon crossing the Yorkshire Wolds, featuring an undulating course designed to be easy to navigate rather than technically demanding underfoot. Participants are provided with GPX files, waymarking, and prominent yellow correx signs at crucial intersections, ensuring navigation is a planned element of the event. The race employs chip timing, offers medical support, and features one checkpoint supplying vegan and gluten-free options. A five-hour overall time limit, without intermediate checkpoint cut-offs, accommodates both slower-paced runners and those aiming for a fast half marathon. All finishers will receive a wildflower seed medal. Additionally, each registration contributes to planting one tree and includes a £3 donation to charity.

Liversedge Half Marathon & Roberttown 10K
SUN MAR 7

The series offers two road-race choices: a 13.1-mile half marathon and a 6.2-mile 10K. Roberttown Road Runners arranges the event, with Peter Knott serving as organiser. Both courses are officially measured, beneficial for runners aiming for a precise time. The race maintains a local character, distinct from the scale or polish of a major city event.
Middlesbrough Half Marathon Presented by Science in Sport March 2027
SUN MAR 7
The Middlesbrough Half Marathon, presented by Science in Sport, is a fast, flat, chip-timed road half marathon held in Middlesbrough town centre. Taking place in March, it begins in Centre Square on Albert Road, with a start window between 9am and noon. The race is suitable for those aiming for a personal best and for first-time half marathon participants, though road closures necessitate a strict three-hour completion limit. The course commences outside the Town Hall and MIMA gallery, proceeds through Albert Park, goes by Riverside Stadium, circles the docks, and concludes in Centre Square. Now in its second year, the event includes chip-timed results, a themed medal, a Team TTFF running top, and post-run refreshments. Fundraising is integral to the event; participants can support Teesside residents via TTFF, with a suggested sponsorship target of at least £150. This fundraising can be combined with participation in other events like Total Warrior, the Middlesbrough 10K, and the Great North Run. The Great North Air Ambulance Service also benefits from the race.

About Half Marathon races in York

York Training Notes

York hosts 32 Half Marathon races in 2026 within 80 km of the city centre — upcoming dates, recurring series, and other races nearby, all in one place.

York keeps running simple, flat, and social. Locals use the River Ouse, the River Foss, the inside of the city walls, and York racecourse when Z2 needs no drama. Holgate Harriers meet at York RI RUFC near West Bank Park around 6:50 for a briefing, then head out at 7pm. Holgate Harriers usually split into 5.5k, 7.5k, and 10k groups around South Bank, Acomb, Holgate, and Knapton. Run York, Heworth Harriers, and York Knavesmire Harriers cover everything from casual miles to marathon blocks. The Drop York, York 10K, and the York 5K Series give the calendar its anchor events.

York riding is a mixed bag, but locals can get about easy enough. The Planet Trail runs from near the racecourse out Selby way, and the 13km Orbital Route gives mostly off-main-road miles. York Rouleurs leave Cycle Heaven on Hospital Fields Road at 9am every Sunday, with 30, 40, 50, and 60-mile groups and a no-drop feel. Clifton CC, York Bike Belles, and York Outdoor Group fill in the club scene. South of the city, country roads carry steady base miles with fewer cars. York has few local climbs, so riders head for the Howardian Hills in about 45-60 minutes when they want proper uphill work.

May to July is the sweet spot for both sports. York gets its most sunshine then, with about six hours per day, and summer can sit warmer than the Yorkshire coast with temperatures of 27 °C or more. Summer runners lean on the river, the walls, and the 3km tarmac path inside York racecourse. Summer riders use The Planet Trail, the old railway line path, and longer Sunday routes like North Loop or Big Loop, Tiny Loop. Winter brings frost, fog, and cold winds, so locals keep layers handy, fit wider tyres, and move sharper bike work to York Sport Village Cycle Circuit.
