Greifenseelauf
The Greifenseelauf begins and ends in Uster, within the Swiss canton of Zurich. Its primary event is a half marathon encircling Greifensee. This yearly road race takes place in mid-September, originating in 1980. The main distance is 21.0975 km, complemented by an officially measured 10 km race and shorter events designed for children. The half marathon course proceeds counter-clockwise around the lake, forming a single loop rather than a circuit through the city. Initially, the main route was shorter, measuring 19 km and later 19.5 km, before adopting the standard half-marathon distance in 1992. The participants include both competitive runners and a substantial local crowd, with past record holders featuring names like Moses Tanui, Joyce Chepchumba, Grete Waitz, Markus Ryffel, Adrian Marti, and Caroline Steffen.
