Les Courses de Bienne
Les Courses de Bienne is a night road-running series held in Bienne, northern Switzerland, typically in early June. The event offers a wide variety of races: an 11 km adventure race, a half marathon, 100 km and 101 km ultra-distance races, and children’s and junior races. The longer races can also be run as a 100 km relay, and there is a 100 km couples’ race for two runners sharing the challenge. The main event is the 100 km race, recognized locally as a significant long-distance competition. The route is described as nearly flat despite its considerable length. Both the 100 km and 101 km races have 569 metres of elevation gain, and the half marathon has 544 metres, indicating the shorter race is not a simple loop. The courses combine city sections with natural paths, offering views of the lake and the Jura Massif. This event caters to ultra runners, relay teams, couples, half-marathoners, 11 km runners, and younger participants, rather than a single group focused on one distance.
