Winters Couch to Track Charity Challenge
The Winters Couch to Track Charity Challenge is a May track fundraiser at Winters High School in Winters, California, organized by the Winters Runners and Walkers Club. It is set up for kids and adults, with options for beginners trying their first mile, walkers, run-walkers, and faster racers chasing a track effort. The race menu is simple: a 1-mile challenge of 4 laps, a 5K challenge of 12.2 laps, and an Unlimited Challenge where the goal is to complete as many laps as possible during the event window. Everything happens on the high school track, so the course is flat, contained, and easy for spectators to follow. Participants move counterclockwise, faster runners use the inside lanes, and walkers or slower participants use the outer lanes; strollers are allowed in the outer lanes, but dogs and bicycles are not allowed on the track. The event is self-timed, with numbered bibs for everyone, water on the course, post-race food, and gift awards for challenge finishers while supplies last. Proceeds support a scholarship fund for Winters High School seniors who participated in track and cross-country and plan to attend college.
