RRRR Summer Fun Run Series
The RRRR Summer Fun Run Series is an eight-race Thursday evening series in Shreveport, Louisiana, organized by the Red River Road Runners from early June through late July. Every run starts at 6:45 PM CDT, and runners choose one of two paths when they register: the short course starts at 1 mile and builds toward a 5K finale, while the long course is usually a 5K each week. Single-race entries are available only for the long course. The series moves around local parks and running spots, including Stoner Boat Launch, Ford Park, Walker Place Park in Bossier, Southern Hills Park, Querbes Park, North Bossier Park, A.C. Steere Park, and Betty Virginia Park. It is open to runners and walkers, from people using it as a hard workout to families out for an easy evening run or walk. A clock is set up at each event, but the tone is casual: registration covers all eight races, with freeze pops, watermelon, and a shirt for early registrants, and the final night includes a 5K finale and picnic. The series is in its 36th consecutive year, which says a lot about how local and repeat-friendly it is.
