Chios Night Run
The Chios Night Run begins at the port of Chios, sending runners after dark through the island’s main town. As part of the Mastichathlon program, it provides three race options: a 1,000m for younger participants, a 5K suitable for many, and a 10K for those seeking a longer challenge. The event starts in the evening, with a technical briefing prior and awards later that night, focusing on running under lights instead of a typical morning race. The course follows an urban night route shaped by the port, town center, and sea air, distinct from a remote trail or countryside path. The participants are intended to include children, beginners, regular runners, and older athletes, with age categories from young adults up to 60+. Entrants get chip timing, a race number, a technical shirt, and a medal bearing the race insignia, along with water, snacks, and a light meal post-finish. Its primary historical note is that this is the inaugural Chios Night Run and the island’s first major night running event.
