Niort

Niort sits on the Sèvre Niortaise river in the Deux-Sèvres department, with mostly flat terrain across the Marais Poitevin wetlands. Runners have the Ekiden 79 and Les Foulées de Cholette et Surimeau as local anchors, both road races through gentle countryside; the Niou Maraisthon follows similar flat routes. Cyclists prefer the We Cyclopatrimoine event which heads into the bocage landscape 15km east toward Maille, where rolling hills and farmland offer relief from the river-flat centre.
