About this race
Triathlon Thülsfelder Talsperre takes place in Garrel-Petersfeld, Lower Saxony, centered on the Thülsfelder Talsperre reservoir. It has been held annually since 1996. The event features an Olympic-distance triathlon (1.0 km swim, 40.0 km bike, 10.0 km run) and a sprint race for Jedermann participants (0.5 km swim, 20.0 km bike, 5.0 km run). A relay option is available for the sprint distances. The event accommodates solo age-group athletes, everyday participants, and small teams.
The swim is a loop within the reservoir, starting on land. The bike course is point-to-point on asphalt and paved roads, requiring adherence to standard traffic regulations and staying to the right. The run is an out-and-back course along the reservoir dike, utilizing both paved and firm unpaved sections. The dike remains accessible to walkers and cyclists during the competition. Erholungsgebiet Thülsfelder Talsperre e.V. is the organizer. A planned resumption after a three-year hiatus due to Corona was canceled due to insufficient volunteer support.
