La Casentina begins in Castel San Niccolò, sending participants into the Casentino valley on a historic cycling tour focused on slow travel, local food, and traditional cycling culture. Held in August, it provides three route options: 30 km with 720 m of elevation gain, 58 km with 1,340 m, and 85 km with 1,910 m. The event accommodates various bikes and riding styles, featuring separate starts for vintage bikes, gravel bikes, and mountain bikes.
The routes traverse historic villages and cultural sites within Casentino, incorporating planned stops for wine and local products. La Casentina is presented as the first historic cycle tour in the Casentino valley, with its program including guided tours, markets, and vintage car displays alongside the cycling. Practical amenities such as parking, refreshments, and changing rooms are available.
