About cycling & running in Cape Coral-Fort MyersCape Coral-Fort Myers Training Notes
Running: Cape Coral runners keep it simple with South Cape Run Club on Wednesdays at 6pm at No.3 Craft Brews & Beer Bar. Cape Coral Run Group keeps weekday base miles around a three mile route and weekend long runs around six miles. Gateway Run Club meets Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. at Fort Myers Brewery, and its 5K route runs parallel to Daniels Parkway. Speedsters gives Fort Myers runners four days a week, including Speedsters Thursday 6 mile South. Locals mix WildPalm, RedFish1, Edison Bridge, and 5K starts like 2026 Fueled by Fire 5K & Challenge, 15th Annual LCEC 5K, and Stuff a Bagel 5K Gobble Wobble.
Cycling: Cape Coral riders get more than 90 miles of interconnected bike routes, so base miles come easy. Summerlin Path runs southwest from Fort Myers near the Midpoint Memorial Bridge to the Sanibel Causeway. Caloosa Riders Club, Caloosa Road Riders, Sanibel Bicycle Club, and Coastal Cruisers Bicycle Club give locals steady group options. Caloosa Road Riders roll Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 7:30 and 8:00 am with 12-15 mph and faster groups. The route covers 1 km and gains 141 m. Caloosahatchee Regional Park gives mountain bikers more than 20 miles of off-road trails for singletrack work.
Season: Summer is the tough block here, and locals still show up for Z2, short intervals, and early starts. The three-part summer running series keeps snow-bird and transplant families moving through the toughest running and walking months. Winter changes the feel because more athletes arrive, more group rides fill out, and the Snow Bird Classic gives the calendar a clear seasonal anchor. Runners lean into Priority Business Solutions Freedom 5K & Kid's Fun Run, Move with MADD Fort Myers 5K, Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk - Fort Myers, FL, and Game On! ManateeMan Triathlon. Cyclists keep the coastal miles rolling when the winter groups get deeper.
