In early summer, as the "Himehotaru dance" commences, the mountains of Hachi Kita and Torokawadaira provide the setting for the 14th 姫ボタル・瀞川平トレイルラン. This event offers a genuine mountain experience, distinct from a refined road race: forest air, ridgelines, and uneven terrain demanding attention to your steps.
The course traverses "tough up and down mountain roads and trails," with summits near 1,000 meters revealing a "spectacular panorama" after challenging ascents. More demanding routes are designed to "test legs and heart," alongside a course noted as "perfect for first-timers," accommodating both novice and seasoned trail runners. A memorable aspect is the "warm hospitality unique to Kami and Muraoka," reflecting the local welcome appreciated after a strenuous day in the mountains.
