Algeciras-La Línea

Mountain biking dominates here: the Sierra del Arca and Sierra Almoraima ranges rise steeply from the coast, generating 68km marathon routes like Maratón MTB La Almoraima that climb 1200m+ through cork and pine forests. Algeciras itself sits on the Strait of Gibraltar's southern shore at sea level, but cyclists have 20–30km of technical singletrack and fireroads inland; runners mostly stick to the flat seafront promenade or head to nearby Tarifa for wind-sheltered trails. The region is sun-scorched and windy, best ridden autumn to spring.
