The Möhnesee Pokallauf starts and finishes at the Heinrich-Lübke-Haus in Möhnesee-Günne, North Rhine-Westphalia. This public trail-running event features actual climbing, not a flat road course, and has taken place around Möhnesee for decades. Participants can select a 5 km beginner race, the 15 km main race, or a 30 km race. Separate races are available for children and students.
The longer races follow the same 15 km course. Runners in the 15 km race complete one lap, while 30 km runners complete two. The route quickly enters natural terrain, with trail sections and ascents reaching approximately 330 meters twice per lap, about 120 meters above the course's lowest point. The 30 km race accumulates up to 620 meters of climbing, making it suitable for runners with prior trail experience. The prize structure is slightly different from typical events: the top five finishers in each race receive prizes, either cash or non-cash. The overall male and female winners of the 15 km and 30 km races are awarded trophies.
