Baden-Wurttemberg's first long-distance triathlon, the Nordschwarzwald Triathlon, takes place around Nagold in the northern Black Forest on a summer weekend. The primary event is the full iron-distance format: a 3.8 km swim, 180 km cycling, and a 42.195 km marathon. The same weekend also features 50 km and 100 km time trials, AquaBike, sprint races, and a short popular triathlon, offering more than just ultra-endurance starts.
Nagold serves as the event's center, with Stadtpark Kleb as the main venue and Badepark Nagold used for shorter races. The long-distance marathon concludes in Nagold, while the cycling leg crosses the broader Nordschwarzwald region, known locally as a training hub. The event has previously hosted the German Triathlon Championships, and demand is high, with sprint registrations already closed. Alongside experienced long-course competitors, the field includes newcomers from the VfL Nagold Triathlon Rookie Team, contributing a club-level, local atmosphere alongside the championship competition.
