The Scharmützelsee-Triathlon takes place in Bad Saarow, Brandenburg, utilizing the lakes and ponds of the Scharmützelsee region. Organized by Triathlonverein Fürstenwalde 1990, it features two primary individual competitions: a sprint event with a 750 m swim, 20 km bike course, and 5 km run, and a short-distance race comprising a 1.5 km swim, 38 km bike course, and 10 km run. The sprint event also offers a relay format, allowing teams to divide the swim, bike, and run segments.
The short-distance race serves as a Brandenburg state championship, adding a competitive dimension beyond that of a typical local triathlon. Approximately 350 participants are anticipated for each main individual distance, with sprint heats segmented by age group and gender. Competitors in the short-distance race require a German Triathlon Union start pass or must purchase a day license. Entry numbers are limited for each distance. Helke Wannewitz is the designated contact for organizational and registration inquiries.
