CAVEMAN CHALLENGE
The Caveman Challenge is a morning race and fitness event held at Whispering Pines Park in Inverness, Florida, with activities running from 8:00 to 11:00 AM EDT. The main Competitive Caveman Challenge involves athletes completing a 5K run, swimming 400 yards in a short-course pool, performing strength and plyometric exercises between swim laps, and finishing by pushing a Jeep 25 meters. Team and scaled-down options are available. In the Team Caveman Challenge, one participant runs the 5K while the other completes the swim and exercise segments, after which both can team up for the Jeep push. The Mini Caveman consists of a 5K run/walk combined with the Jeep push. This event benefits The Wil-Power Foundation, Inc., established to honor William Mintner, a swimmer with the YMCA Wahoo’s, Ocala Aquatics, and Florida Southern, who enjoyed CrossFit, swimming, running, and his neon green Jeep Wrangler. This marks the race's eighth year, and its "caveman" theme references the cult film Teenage Caveman, initially produced as Prehistoric World and later featured on Mystery Science Theater 3000.
