State Games of Tennessee 5K Races

The State Games of Tennessee 5K Races offer two 5K events in Jackson, Tennessee, as part of the state’s annual multi-sport games. Participants can select a road race starting at the Farmer’s Market in downtown Jackson or a trail run at Pugh Bourne Park in Oakfield, near the city. The races accommodate a broad range of participants, with divisions from age 9 and under up to 80, plus open entry for various ages and skill levels. The road course begins on New Market Street and circles the University of Memphis Lambuth campus. The trail race takes place within Pugh Bourne Park. Athletes travel from across Tennessee. The Backass Jackal Trail Marathon

The Backass Jackal Trail Marathon is the wooded-trail event in the Jackal marathon series held in and around Jackson, Tennessee. The races are organized as the “5 Jackal Marathons in 5 Days Series,” featuring a mid-June event with marathon and half-marathon distances that combine dirt, woods, pavement, and repeated loops. Run It Fast describes the Jackal marathons as the most challenging multi-day marathon series in the United States, targeting runners seeking consecutive demanding days rather than a single quick race. The Backass Jackal course consists entirely of wooded trail and begins early in the morning. Other races during the same period include the Asphalt Jackal and Dragonfly Jackal, both flat, paved, and quick, along with the Native Jackal Trail Marathon & 10.6 Miler. The Native Jackal uses wooded trail with some asphalt and more elevation gain than typically found in West Tennessee. All courses utilize loops ranging from approximately 2.65 to 5.25 miles, facilitating crew support and providing runners with consistent access to aid stations. Run It Fast members receive reduced entry fees, and participants registering for all five Jackal races are eligible for a series discount.

St. Patrick's Day 5k

The St. Patrick's Day 5k is a mid-March race in Bakersfield, California, held at the Park at River Walk along the Kern River. It is a short holiday run, not a long-distance event. The St. Patrick's theme is incorporated through green attire, lucky charms, and prize opportunities beyond finish times. The course remains within the River Walk area, offering runners a park setting by the river rather than a downtown parade route. Age-division awards recognize the top three finishers in each category, and costume prizes are given to participants who most embrace the green theme. ランニング： 地元の人たちは、舗装された往復コースとか、森の中のトレイル、あとは街中の周回コースでbase milesを稼いでるよ。Fleet Feet Jackson, TNは毎週日曜の朝6時に398 Oil Well RdにあるWest Jackson Baptist Churchから集合。雨でも晴れでもやるし、どんなペースの人でもウェルカムだよ。グループは4、5、6、8 miles走る感じ。4 milesのルートだと6.97 kmで143 mの獲得標高。8 milesのルートだと12.08 kmで85 mの獲得標高って感じ。レースカレンダーは、St Patrick's Day 5K、Wayne Provision-Hope on the Move 5K、The Jackal Trail Marathonみたいな5Kレースで足を慣らしてる。

サイクリング： こっちのサイクリストは、近所のゆるポタから、ロングライド、gravel、あとは短いsingletrackまで色々乗ってるよ。Jackson Spokesが地元のバイクシーンを支えてくれてるし、Tennessee Interscholastic Cycling Leagueのおかげで、秋にはPugh Bourne ParkのRockabilly Ridgeでマウンテンバイクレースが開催されるようになった。エリアには4 kmで3,962 mの登りがある。あと5 kmで582 mの登りもあるから、ヒルクライムはほとんど長いロードの引きかな。ブルーのsingletrackは0 metersで12 mの登り。トレイルは短すぎて、正直あんまり行く価値ないかな。

シーズン： 5月から7月は地元のトレイルのメインシーズンだね。Fleet Feet Jackson, TNが毎週木曜の夜6時半にUnion University Trailsのトレイルヘッドで夏のtrail run groupをやってるから。夏は暑くて湿度も高いから、みんなintervalsはしっかりやるし、早朝スタートが基本。長いZ2のランやライドは、涼しくなる時間帯に回してるよ。冬はそこまで厳しくなくて、むしろ涼しいくらい。だからランナーはlong runsを伸ばせるし、サイクリストはbase milesを稼げる。singletrackは寒さよりも路面状況次第って感じ。
