Chattanooga's running and cycling scene centers on the Tennessee River valley and the surrounding ridges of the Cumberland Plateau. Runners use the scenic riverfront trails and parks, while cyclists dominate the region's rolling terrain — the Scenic City Cyclo takes riders through 129km of the area's signature climbs, and the Sequatchie 24 Ultra Race covers 241km of gravel and mountain roads in the plateau northwest of the city. The Lula Lake 50 and 25km cycling events showcase the steeper creek valleys and ridge-line descents that make this region a year-round cycling destination.
