Race Against Racism
Race Against Racism is a 5K in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, run from Musser Park in April and organized by YWCA Lancaster. The day includes separate adult and youth 5K options plus a Kid's Fun Run, so it is built for families, young runners, and regular 5K participants rather than only competitive racers. It goes ahead rain or shine, with same-morning packet pickup, announcements in the park, the kids' race first, the 5K after that, and awards before midday. The race supports YWCA Lancaster's Center for Racial and Gender Equity, and the organizer frames participation as a public statement against racism. Its stated purpose is not just fundraising, but support for work aimed at dismantling racism and changing institutions. The event has run for 28 years and is described by the organizer as the nation's longest-running Race Against Racism, which gives it a longer history than most cause-based local 5Ks.
