Valtinos Warriors is a mountain running event in Aetolia-Acarnania. The 10 km trail race begins at 10:00 from the Chalkiopoulo area. The route starts high at Palio Chalkiopoulo, approximately 800 m above sea level, and concludes lower in Neo Chalkiopoulo at about 250 m. The entry fee is €10. This event is designed for runners seeking a short mountain course, not an ultra-distance race. The course crosses a ravine shaded by mature plane trees and passes the historic Mill of the Blind. It then ascends through fir and oak woodlands towards Diaselo pass and Ipsili Rachi. Participants will also see the Panagia Silevistes chapel, Avrrakota spring (462 m), and finish on agricultural roads. The route balances gentle climbs with a significant net descent, suitable for both runners and hikers. Two aid stations are provided.
Running: Arta runners keep the scene small and useful. Locals meet the calendar through the Runners Club of Arta, which drives the Arta Half Marathon, Arta’s Night Run 1881, and the 4th Arta Trail. The 22 km route starts at the runner's club offices in the former landfill area and heads towards the Arta-Antirrio national road. The 22 km route gives you 630 meters of positive gain, so it is not just a jog. The 6 km route starts and finishes at the runner's club offices on Peranthi Hill.
Cycling: Arta riding is quieter, but the gravel heads get a real marker with Jeroboam Mallorca. Riders use the same small-scene logic here: base miles first, then a harder day when the route points uphill. Peranthi Hill gives the closest named climb, and the 4th Arta Trail profile tells you the local ground can bite. The route runs 56 km along the bank. Cycling clubs are not named here, so the Runners Club of Arta is the only club name I would trust.
Season: Late June is the sharp end of the Arta calendar. Arta’s Night Run 1881 lands then, and the half marathon rhythm makes the city centre feel like it has intervals on the brain. Summer running works best when locals keep it tidy, with shorter efforts, Z2, and night-race legs. Winter changes the target more than the terrain. Runners still have Peranthi Hill, the Arachthos river, and Vidra’s Trail for strength. Riders get the November 7-8 Jeroboam Mallorca date, so gravel fitness replaces any lazy off-season story.
