5th Paros Way - Aquathlon

Paros Way is a mid-June sports weekend on Paros in the Cyclades, featuring running, swimming, and aquathlon races. The aquathlon is a short swim-run event: 750 meters in the water followed by a 5 km run. A relay option is available for teams who want to split the two legs. The race is based in Parikia, the main port town of Paros. The aquathlon is scheduled as a two-hour late-afternoon event, running under the auspices of the Municipality of Paros. This is the fifth consecutive edition of the wider Paros Way event. The organizers target athletes and recreational sports fans, with returning participants citing the island’s easy access and summer setting as draws. No refreshment stations are listed for the aquathlon, so racers should plan their own fluids around the start and finish.

Andros Trail Challenge 34km

The Andros Trail Challenge 34km is a trail race held in Ormos Korthiou on Andros, Greece. It starts in the morning during a late-May to early-June festival weekend. This 34km race, the Gerakones Challenge, is part of the larger Andros Challenge & Festival, an island event that originated from the former Andrus Beer Trail Race Festival. The Gerakones Challenge limits participation to 200 solo runners and includes one aid station, with a time limit of 3 hours 30 minutes. The course profile shows moderate elevation changes for its distance, featuring 253 meters of climbing and 253 meters of descent. The festival also offers shorter trail runs, like the 5.7km Aidonia Encounter, suitable for those new to mountain running, alongside a Drink & Run race and a swimming challenge, indicating the weekend includes multiple events.

About cycling & running in Mykonos

Mykonos Training Notes

Running: Chora gives runners the easy start, because most routes roll out from the west coast before the road tilts inland. The longest route covers 61 km with 256 m of gain. The mid-distance route covers 28 km with 226 m of gain, so it works for Z2 or steady intervals. Mykonos has no named run club in the brief, so runs stay informal. The Mykonos Running Festival is the anchor event to keep on the calendar.

Cycling: The Mykonos Private Bike Tour is the main mapped ride, and it gives you 50 km with 900 m of climbing. The indicative version covers 55 km with 900 m of elevation, so base miles here never feel flat. Locals know the climbs as short, steep parts that last only a few minutes, then everything settles again. Armenistis Lighthouse, isolated churches, back roads, and Mykonos Water Reservoirs make the ride feel off-the-beaten-track. Mykonos has no named cycling club or island crit in the brief, so riders treat the route itself like the anchor session.

Season: September is the clean pick for both running and riding, because the heat eases and the island still feels open. Summer gives dry, sunny days around 27°C, and the meltemi keeps the coast workable if locals start early. Nights sit around 22°C, so recovery walks in Chora or Ornos still feel easy. Winter changes the rhythm, because the rainy season runs from October to March. Runners keep shorter loops near Chora, and riders watch the wet rocky roads before chasing Z2 toward Ano Mera, Elia, Kalafatis, or Tourlos.
