whynot legacy - Stratoni Halkidiki Triathlon

The Stratoni Halkidiki Triathlon is a whynot Legacy event held in Stratoni, a coastal village on the northeastern shore of Chalkidiki, within the Municipality of Aristotle. The weekend features swimming races alongside triathlon and aquathlon competitions, catering to multiple types of multisport athletes. The adult aquathlon consists of a 0.75 km swim followed by a 5 km run. The event is coordinated by the Municipality of Aristotle, Stratoni’s professional associations, and Whynot, with backing from regional and national tourism, culture, and sport organizations. The swim commences at Stratoni beach, starting from Beach Bar Paraty, entering the Gulf of Ierissos. Following the swim, the run is a single circuit along the beach and through the town, allowing spectators to easily follow the race. Stratoni is also situated near the birthplace of Aristotle, the namesake of the host municipality, adding local historical context to the race location. The event targets athletes and sports enthusiasts, not exclusively specialists, offering individual registration options with increasing prices from early bird to last-minute entry.

About cycling & running in Serres

Serres Base Miles

Running: Serres runners keep the week simple: city centre laps, flat work on the fertile plain, and longer road rhythm toward the Strymon river. The city centre gives you easy starts before work, and the plain north and east keeps the Z2 steady. The Serres Racing Circuit is flat and paved with minimal elevation change, so locals use it when they want honest pace and no excuses. Panserraikos is the local name to know. The circuit gives you 8 km or 9 km options depending on how you loop it.

Cycling: Serres riders get a good mix without making it complicated. The municipality has 25 km of mountain bike routes, so locals can leave the road bike at home and still find real singletrack feel. The Bike Cities network lists 16 routes across 4 municipality areas, and the setup includes repair spots, bike parking, and bike shops. Panserraikos is the club name that comes up again here. Beyond Kerkini Running Experience 2026 includes the 13km Cycle Box K3 Route, and that ride covers 21 to 21.1 km. The climbs live on the mountain routes around the municipality.

Season: Serres gives you dry summer training, but the heat deserves respect. July and August are the driest months, and the inland location makes summer especially hot, so locals treat long runs, base miles, and 24-hour efforts with care. The Serres Racing Circuit stays useful for controlled intervals because the surface is flat and paved. The mountain bike routes keep riding interesting when road legs feel cooked. Winter changes the rhythm without shutting things down. The city has cool winters that are rarely very cold, so runners and cyclists can keep Z2 work going while saving the sharper stuff for better days.
