Kingston upon Hull is flat and sprawling across the Humber estuary plain — ideal for steady running on its network of parks and riverside paths, particularly along the Hull and Humber waterfront. Cyclists find quick access to the Wolds, a series of chalk hills 15–20km inland rising to around 150m, offering the nearest real climbing; the local lanes between Market Weighton and Driffield are the standard weekend circuit. The city centre itself is canal-laced and low-lying, suiting longer aerobic efforts more than the punchy hill work most cyclists seek nearby.
