Cyclists dominate here with inland routes to Mount Dora roughly 50km west, home to the Cycle Mount Dora events that attract serious road riders; the terrain stays pancake-flat around Daytona itself, but the nearby hills around Deland and Mount Dora reward the 90-minute drive for elevation work. Summer heat and humidity are intense, so most fast efforts happen October through April.
