Les Rives du Doubs

Les Rives du Doubs is a small race series in Besançon, located in the Doubs department of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. The city races are designed around the local river setting and heritage. It is typically held at the end of March, offering road running and a walking option. The primary distances are 5 km and 10 km, both run as single loops, with the 10 km being the most popular. Younger participants have their own events: Les Mini Rives is 1.7 km for ages 12 to 15, and children aged 8 to 11 can participate in a 1 km obstacle course. The races take place within Besançon, intended to showcase the city rather than venture into the countryside. The event is modest in scale, with the previous edition attracting just over 200 participants, giving it the feel of a local community race rather than a large regional event. The name references the Doubs river, and nearby Torpes is situated on the right bank of the same river, downstream from Besançon, where the Doubs forms a wide curve.

Trail des forts de Besançon

The Trail des Forts de Besançon is a trail running series held in early May in Besançon, located in the Doubs department of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, the birthplace of Victor Hugo. The event offers various formats for runners: children’s races, a 4.8 km parasport route, an 11 km trail or hike with 330 m of elevation gain, a 17 km duo race with 560 m, a 22 km race with 600 m, a 42 km marathon with 1,300 m, and a 62 km race with approximately 2,400 m that can be completed solo or as a relay. Additionally, there is a 5 km nighttime urban time trial and a two-day "triptyque" challenge covering 38 km and 1,070 m of climbing across three races. The courses navigate Besançon’s varied terrain, including urban areas, the river, wooded hills, and historic military sites. The 11 km route crosses the Citadel of Besançon and follows the Doubs river, while the 22 km route incorporates natural areas near Montfaucon and Morre. The longest route extends from the city's heights into forested hills, passing by historic forts, some of which are part of the area’s UNESCO World Heritage listing. While not high-mountain running, the ascents are significant, particularly on the 42 km and 62 km races. The event provides aid stations, medical support, and a race village featuring concerts and activities, attracting both local trail runners and visitors interested in a race weekend centered on Besançon.

ランニング： 地元の人たちはまずDoubs沿いを走るんだ。la Boucleは街から出なくても楽にbase milesを稼げるからね。Doubsの河岸とBois de Chamarsの間を5 kmのループで走る感じ。このループは54 kmで獲得標高は110 m、Citadelleの景色も楽しめるし、短いインターバルやるには十分きつい部分もあるよ。TEAM Rrun Besançonは毎週木曜の夜7:00 PMに店の前に集合してるよ。ここではTrail des forts de Besançonが一番大きなイベントだね。Ekiden Grandes Heures NatureにはChaudanneの登りがしっかり効いてくるんだ。

サイクリング： 地元サイクリストは、Z2で淡々と走りたい時とか、あんまりドラマいらないなって時はDoubs沿いに行くね。Eurovélo 6は川沿いのきれいなルートで、Avanne-Aveneyまでの11-km区間は誰でも楽に走れるよ。カフェライドよりちょっと負荷を上げたい時は、R.ride des fortsとかLa Flèche Bisontineが地元の定番コースかな。登りはChaudanne周辺とか、東のJura Mountains方面にあるよ。脚を鍛えたい時はAssaut de ChaudanneとかDouble Assaut de Chaudanneをやる人が多いかな。ここではcritとかcyclocrossの話はあんまり出なくて、fortsとか川沿いの道、あとはgran fondo向けの脚作りについて話すことが多いね。

シーズン： 7月が一番暑い月で、街の平均気温は19°Cくらいだよ。夏の間は、Doubsの小道、Chamars Promenade、Jardins de la Gare-d'Eau、Forest of Chailluzあたりが、軽い日も長い有酸素運動にも使えるから重宝するね。日が長くなったら地元の人たちは朝早くから走り始めて、夜はクラブのリズムを崩さない感じかな。冬は地図上の変化よりも、体感的にかなり変わるね。1月は平均3°Cだから、ランナーは街の中心部に近いところを走るか、整備されたルートを選ぶし、サイクリストは登りが寒く感じたら川沿いのZ2を多めにやる傾向があるよ。トレイル自体は変わらないけど、forts周辺は冬の方がきつく感じるかもね。
