Angel Run

The Angel Run is an annual hybrid run/walk held at Jamison Park in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Participants can join in person or virtually. The in-person event features a 5K Run/Walk, a 1 Mile Run/Walk, a Warrior Walk, and a Kids Fun Run for ages 1 to 12. Virtual participants complete their run or walk during a late-April window, extending the event beyond the park while maintaining the local race-day gathering as its focus. The race is presented by the Angelic Warrior Foundation, established after Angel was diagnosed with colorectal cancer at 29 and discussed starting a nonprofit to aid other patients during chemotherapy. The event raises awareness of colorectal cancer in young adults and supports patients and families affected by the disease. Race morning includes opening remarks, an acknowledgement of Colon Cancer Warriors, and closing awards, with prizes for top donors, fundraisers, and top finishers. Runners and walkers can also post photos to the race site and share them with #angelrun, blending fundraising, remembrance, and a community health message.

海岸線の距離と平地のパワー

ランニング： オーシャンフロント沿いのボードウォークは7マイルも続くんだ。ここらでロングランするなら、やっぱりFirst Landing State Parkだね。Cape Henry Trailが湿地帯や森、水辺の景色の中を、64th Street、Atlantic Ave、そしてボードウォークまで連れて行ってくれるよ。Norfolkのランナーは9マイルのElizabeth River Trailを使うし、Newport NewsのランナーはLake Maury周辺のNoland Trailを走ってるね。North End Run Club、Norfolk Run Club、SPARC Worldwide、Tidewater Stridersとか、グループランの予定も盛りだくさんだよ。Shamrock Half Marathon、Neptune’s 8K Race、Tunnel to Towers 5Kみたいなレースが、このシーズンの目玉イベントだね。

サイクリング： サイクリストは、ビーチロードとかPungo、Newport News City Park Bike Pathでbase milesを稼いでるよ。Tripower Cycling Club of Virginiaはペースをしっかり守ってて、火曜と木曜はTerrapin Restaurantの駐車場を7:15 AMに出発して、18-20+ MPHで40 miles走るんだ。土曜のライドはConte's Bike Shopから出発して、C paceからA+ paceまで色々なループがあるよ。Back Bay West GravelとFalse Cape State Parkは砂とgravel、それに素晴らしい景色が楽しめるんだ。False Cape State Parkには12 miles以上の未舗装路があるよ。登り坂はほとんど海岸から離れた場所にあって、Bear Creek Lake State Parkには42.69 milesで2110 feetの獲得標高があるんだ。

シーズン： 5月から11月が一番いい時期で、地元の人たちは長い海岸線のブロックみたいに楽しんでるよ。夏は暑くて湿度が高いから、ランナーはOceanfrontからスタートして、First Landingを日陰代わりに使ったり、Absolute Beach - Virginia Beach、Sand & Surf 5k & 10k、Breathe n Run 5kみたいなビーチレースを走ったりするんだ。サイクリストは早朝スタートが多いね。7月4日のIndependence Day RideはConte's Bike Shopを7:00 AMに出発するよ。冬は穏やかだから、Z2トレーニングも途切れないよ。ランナーは11月にTidewater Striders Turkey Trot 10K & Mileがあるし、サイクリストは10月の2026 Pink Rideで培った秋のfitnessを維持してるんだ。
