Poitiers is a hilly medieval city where runners navigate cobbled climbs through the old town centre and out to Parc de Blossac for the Pictav Warrior obstacle course. Cyclists face serious elevation around the Clain valley and head southeast into the Nouvelle-Aquitaine bocage for rolling terrain; the Vélo Pictaves in nearby Saint-Benoît (25km) and the epic 486km La Gravienne gravel route through the Poitou region define the local cycling calendar.
