Blackburn's running scene is based around the flat Ribble Valley corridor and local parkruns, though the nearest significant road races are the 5km events down towards Stevenage and Milton Keynes. Cyclists use the town as a springboard north into the Pennine foothills — the Lancashire climbs around Pendle Hill (557m) and Haworth are 20–30km away, while the flat Team MK TT Series courses in Whaddon and Nash (both under 20km) serve the broader regional time-trial circuit from a commutable distance.
