UK running culture is parkrun — over 700 free 5K races every Saturday morning — built on top of an enormous club scene and brutal trail ultras (Lakeland 100, UTS Snowdonia, Highland Fling). London Marathon and Manchester Marathon are the road headliners, with hundreds of half-marathons and 10Ks every weekend across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Cyclists split between rolling chalk roads of the Surrey Hills and Chilterns, the punishing climbs of Yorkshire and Wales (Bealach na Bà, Hardknott Pass), and a deep time-trial tradition.
