Maidstone

Maidstone is a flat riverside town on the Medway, ideal for steady-paced running along the towpath and canal routes that dominate the local scene. Cyclists dominate here through time trial culture — the Medway Velo Club Club 10 is a regular 16km pursuit fixture that draws serious racers, and the surrounding Kent lanes roll gently east toward the North Downs. The terrain is mostly pancake-flat within town, but 10–15km rides southwest lead to proper climbing around the Greensand Ridge and South Downs escarpment.
