Bruges is pancake-flat and canal-laced, ideal for easy running through medieval streets and out onto Flanders' cycling roads. The Athora Bruges Marathon loops the city centre and surrounding polders; local runners also tackle the Dwars Door Brugge 15km and the festive Kerstloop Brugge in December. Cyclists find the terrain relentless and fast—no climbs for 50km in any direction—making it perfect for road speed work, though the Flèche de Wallonie (194km) in nearby Gent offers the region's only serious testing ground.
