A travers le coteau is a spring running day in Bernex, near Geneva, set on the village hillside and its vineyards. The main race is 10 km, with 4 km, 2 km, and 1 km options, suitable for club runners, children, families, and those assessing early-season fitness. A 5 km Nordic Walking option, a 1 km Parents/Children race, and 2x5 km relays for women’s, men’s, and mixed teams are also available. One 4 km category is reserved for councillors from Geneva communes, adding a local character to the event.
The 10 km route passes through Bernex landmarks like Signal, Sézenove, and the Croix climb, utilizing vineyard lanes and hillside paths. The race has been held for over 48 editions and attracts around 1,200 participants, with connections to the Trophée des 4 Saisons and the Léman Running trophy. The day includes La Rando du Coteau, a four-stage wine rally with tastings and appetizers, aimed at showcasing Bernex winemakers and their production. Children have access to free activities, including an inflatable castle, climbing wall, and bungee trampoline, making the event feel like a village gathering as much as a competition.
