Checkpoint Melshei starts and finishes at SI-hytta in Melsheia, Sandnes. It's a low-threshold Saturday morning trail race. Runners must visit three checkpoints in and around Melshei, with the route between them left open. This makes the race part trail run and part route-choice puzzle, where a shorter line can cost more energy if it climbs hard or uses rougher forest paths.
The area is hilly forest terrain with a dense mix of singletrack, gravel roads, and paved sections, so shoe choice matters: trail shoes or gravel shoes with grip make sense. A longer option may actually be faster if it avoids elevation and uses better surfaces. There are male and female classes, no aid stations on course, and water, toilets, showers, and a kiosk are available back at SI-hytta. Parking is limited, so carpooling or cycling is encouraged, and live results plus GPS tracks are available afterward.
