Geiteryggen-løpet
Geiteryggen-løpet is a running race series held at Skien Airport, Geiteryggen, located on the outskirts of Skien in Telemark, approximately 2.5 km southwest of the city center. The venue is an active airfield managed by Grenland Luftsportssenter AS, owned by Skien municipality, and still utilized for general aviation. The course details are limited, but the location defines the race's character. Runners compete at a former commercial airport featuring an asphalt runway and a significant aviation history. Geiteryggen saw commercial flights from the early postwar era, including national and international routes, before scheduled passenger service ceased and it was reclassified as an airfield. Local flying activities commenced with Grenland Flyklubb, and the area initially attracted attention for its aircraft and two bears.
