Skien-Porsgrunn

Running in Skien-Porsgrunn is relatively flat along the Telemark Canal and through the town's waterfront areas, with Byløpet—a full marathon—as the main local event and BDO-mila Skien a shorter 10km fixture. Cyclists dominate the region: the gravel and terrain events like Styggmannen pull riders into Telemark's forested interior, while road routes like Norsjø Rundt (90km) and the longer Telemark Tours (90km) loop through rolling countryside with modest climbs and scenic lake passages around the Norsjø basin. The area sits at roughly 30–50 metres elevation in the valleys but rises to 200–300 metres in the surrounding forests, making it a varied training ground year-round.
