Pocatello Marathon
The Pocatello Marathon, known as Running the Gap, is a fall race held in Pocatello, Idaho. The marathon begins on Hilltop Road. Covering 26.2 miles, the full marathon descends over 1,500 feet, appealing to runners seeking a fast downhill course or a long point-to-point run in eastern Idaho. The event weekend also features a half marathon, 10K, 5K, 1-mile race, and a 0.2-mile race. Wheelchair and handcycle divisions are available for the marathon, half marathon, 10K, and 5K. The course is USA Track & Field certified, and marathon times are eligible for Boston and New York qualifying. This downhill profile offers a practical advantage for runners with specific time goals. The inclusion of shorter races for children broadens the event beyond just the marathon. Club runners and general participants compete in the same race program. This series has been held for over twenty-four years, includes a pasta dinner, provides complimentary course and finish-line photo downloads, and allows runners to customize medals via the event store.
