Cyclists dominate here—the region is the heart of Belgian cycling culture, with the brutal one-day De Gordel (100km) and Dwars door het Hageland (124.6km) drawing serious amateurs, plus gravel racing via BK Gravel (155km) attracting the growing off-road crowd. The city itself is a hub for weekend warrior rides into Walloon and Flemish countryside within 30–50km, where gentle rolling terrain gives way to short, punchy climbs.
