About cycling & running in ZlínZlín Training Notes
Running: Locals run from the Dřevnice River straight into hills, because Zlín sits tight inside the Vizovice Highlands. Tlustá hora gives the city its honest ceiling, and the high point reaches 718 m when you want proper climbing legs. Kelcsky Javornik makes a hard long run, and the route gains +930 m over 21.89 km. Trail - Lipina - 9 km suits singletrack days, and the route packs +485 m into 8.86 km. AK Zlín and TITAN TRILIFE give the serious-club feel. Olympijský běh - Zlín, Kovářská pětka, Běh Zlínem, Strojařská desítka, and Silvestrovský běh Zlín keep the calendar anchored.
Cycling: Locals ride because the city gives you choices fast, with 659 cycle routes sitting around Zlín. Zlín - Portáš works for gran fondo legs, and the route climbs 1,272 m over 129.3 km. K pramenům Dřevnice gives a cleaner Z2 day, and the route adds 889 m over 60.5 km. Hostýnské vrchy pulls riders north-east for longer climbs, while the Vizovice Highlands sit east for repeat work and intervals. Force KCK Zlín and KC Zlín sound like the club names you hear before a fast group ride. Zlínská 50 gives the bike crowd an anchor event.
Season: April and May are the best months here, and most people cycle then because the base miles feel easy to stack. Summer hits 32 °C, so locals start earlier and keep the harder intervals out of the thickest part of the day. Fryšták Reservoir gives riders a north-side target when summer legs need steady rolling. Winter averages 5 °C and changes the mood for both sports. Runners move toward shorter loops and firmer road work, while cyclists trade long climbs for cyclocross grit, indoor Z2, and the ski slope in the city centre.
