Koblenz sits at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle rivers in the Rhineland, a region built for cycling in rolling wine country. The Rhein-Hunsrück-Tour mit Sebamed (111km) is the signature regional event, mixing Rhine valley flatwork with climbs into the slate hills of the Hunsrück plateau; gravel riders also tackle the Graveln um die Burg Olbrück (50km) through nearby villages. Runners find the river valleys mostly flat for easy miles, but the real terrain lies 10-20km away where the Eifel and Hunsrück rise steeply—serious cyclists head north or east for 300-500m elevation gain per loop.
