Liverpool's flat waterfront and dock areas suit fast running — the Liverpool Marathon hugs the Mersey estuary for 26 miles of minimal elevation. The anchor races listed (Team MK TT Series near Milton Keynes, 40+ km south) don't serve the city directly, but local cyclists favour the Cheshire lanes and Pennine climbs within 30–40km to the east, or longer rides out toward North Wales via the A5.
