Central Florida's running scene is pancake-flat and heat-heavy year-round, with the Suffer Better Fall Trail Runs and Sawmill Trail Runs offering the closest thing to technical terrain in the sandy pine forests north of Sanford. Cyclists dominate here, especially on the rolling hills around Mount Dora 30km north where the Cycle Mount Dora events (16km and 113km options) draw serious crowds, or heading further into the Lake Louisa area for the Summer Road Race Series through gentle elevation changes and rural farm roads. Training year-round means early mornings and high humidity, but the region's flat base roads and extensive lake-loop networks make it ideal for high-mileage building.
